Dear Citizens of Deltona,

I know the cause of good government has been a concern of yours for years. I have always had the same objective. As you know I was one of the last Deltona Fire District Commissioners at the time of the birth of the City of Deltona. I am sure you recall what a tumultuous time that was. Numerous lawsuits against the District due to prior mismanagement threatened not only the District but also the new City. At that time I was the Commissioner charged with the resolution of that problem. I also challenged John Marsiarczyk in the first Mayors race. John won and over the next several years the District worked with the City to resolve all of the remaining Fire District issues and allow for an uneventful transformation of the Fire District into the new City's Fire Department.

Under the leadership of John Masiarczyk the new City dealt with all of the growing pains caused by years of county neglect of the area. For the most part John led an effective Commission. When he left office the City was in relatively good shape. His successor created a disaster. In part as a result of this last administration, of which Johns current opponent was a member, Deltona once again faces a crisis. There are excessive taxes, numerous foreclosed or abandoned homes plummeting property values and the service provided by our beloved fire department has been diluted. Not only as the last of the fire commissioners but as the owner of several properties this is of great concern to me. According to his web site Johns opponent thinks it is time to spend more money that the city does not have on some new project. It was this kind of spending during his service on the Deltona commission that has left us with this mess. From his statements on the campaign trail he also appears not to understand the difference between a rate increase and a tax.

This is not the time to put another inexperienced tax and spend Mayor in place in Deltona. I therefore strongly endorse the experienced candidate, John Masiarczyk for Mayor of Deltona.

Sincerely,

Jim Bomford
